Auxiliary tank recommendations
Auxiliary tank recommendations
I’m looking for one of the 100-125 gallon auxiliary L shape tanks that goes under the toolbox. It would not be used too often but it’s a piece of equipment I’m looking to get. Is there a way to protect the steel from rusting during long periods of sitting or should I get an aluminum tank?
thanks

I bought an ATTA 45RBR years ago and use it all the time. They will build you a tank to your specifications if you like. Give them a call, they were willing and open to answer all of my questions.
I selected the 45RBR because I have a roll up soft bed cover that I use, even when towing the 5th wheel. The cap sits below the bed rail, so mo interference from the tank regarding the bed cover.
It is pricey, but you can get just the tank, which is still pricey. Mine came with everything I needed including switch, 12v pump, sending unit, wires, gauge and hoses.
It has been filling my truck at 65 MPH for years and I will never not have an auxiliary tank on my truck from here forward.

I might be interested when timing is right. The only issue I've read on reviews from RDS is usually horrible packaging and they get damaged during transit....
If you get a steel tank, I guess you could try Red Kote on the inside of the tank, or whatever chemical company you prefer. I am not sure about how much fun or easy it would be to slosh all the nooks and crannies on an L shaped tank, but it is a possible option.

I have the RDS 72545, works good for me but I have a topper. Wouldn't work as well if you had a box cover as it sits above the line.
Anyways, its a tank, and it holds diesel. Couldn't quite get the auto fill fitting to sit straight up and down in the fill line, not enough clearance in my application.
