I was working on a 2002 f550 with the 7.3 diesel and it was running like crap. So I decided to open the tank up,I found that the filters in the tank were filled with particles from the tank. It looked like the tank was coming apart. Anyone else have this problem?

Can't say I have. What did the particles look like? My tank was really clean when I had it down, I was very surprised.
Do you know much about that truck? Do you think that there was a lot of really crappy fuel put through it? I was just wondering if maybe it could be lining from a bad tank at the Fuel Station? If their tanks are really old maybe that could have done it. How does the tank in the truck look, other than the lining material in it? Does it look like the tank is peeling on the inside?
Don't really know alot about the truck, I was just working on it. The tank was peeling on the inside but I think that was the coating they put inside the tank, not the general tank.
I bought a bumper off a guy awhile back and took the tank too (for $20) - I don't know if it would fit, but it's the plastic one & I think 29-gallon... PM me if you're interested. It's just sitting in the shed.
I was thinking about using it to keep some extra diesel at the house... my house is in CO and #2 goes for $3.129 there, but I work in Cheyenne, WY and #2 is down to $2.779. That or bring gas home for my roommate... I've got to do something with that tank, and don't want to just toss it!!

It's worth keeping around, eventually, someone is going to need it. Some bonehead like me might go to install a tool box and drill down in through their tank or something (I never did it, LUCKILY) but if anything, put it on Craigs List. Lots of guys around town looking for stroke parts.
I'm thinking about getting an AeroTank to bring me up to 55 gallon capacity - then i'll have 2 hanging around!! I'm working on a way to use it as a removable spare tank in the bed....more of my weird ideas
