steering shaft coupling boot

Hello all,
Been wasting time on the internet looking for the coupling boot on the steering shaft. 1978 f250 4wd. does not have Rag Joint

Can't even locate it at LMC. My searches return garbage from crown and it is never the right one.

best website/vendor specific for the dentsides?

so far, can't find the part at
dennis carpenter
LMC
Toms bornco,
rock auto
etc.

Not sure anyone makes them. normally that joint is sloppy so you replace the shaft assembly. or now I think you can just buy a U joint to replace it , Bronco graveyards has it.

You might get one with a complete repair kit for the steering shaft "bell"/steering box input shaft end.

JBG https://shop.broncograveyard.com/Low...uctinfo/22857/

Most folks just get a Borgeson Steering shaft and replace the complete OEM shaft. Steering Shafts

The Crown one is an option. At least it has the boot. https://www.jegs.com/i/Crown+Automot...IaAvRFEALw_wcB

Or look at Flaming River steering joints. https://www.speedwaymotors.com/shop/...7-10217-15-574

Says for a EB might work for the boot. https://www.wildhorses4x4.com/produc...k_Column_Parts

I remember reading on here some time in the last 12-24 months that a jeep cj one will work. I do not remember the article, so no link to reference.

Yes you are correct, I've done some internet research and found that they are indeed fitted to mid-seventies/early 80's CJ Jeep and are branded 'Crown"
I have purchased an overhaul kit costing roughly $50 AUS and $40 postage from Powerhawke on E bay.
The complete coupling can be had for around $100 - $140 US
The rubber boot is also available separately however only a couple of dollars less than the complete overhaul kit so hardly worth it.

My boot was 'cactus' but the joint itself is actually in good shape due to a liberal amount of grease after 51 years !
Thanks for the tip, regards Ross.

Crown slip joint on Aussie F trucks.

I have just inspected my 1986 'Bullnose F350 4WD and noticed that the steering joints are not the same as US models. instead of Dorman type universal joints Crown brand bell shaped joints top and bottom of shaft are utilised,
Again, same as CJ 5/6 Jeep joints, yet they are not commonly available here in Australia, unless Ford Australia can supply however their price for a back ordered part are IMHO excessive.
jus sayin'

I have just received 2 'Crown' branded bell type steering slip joint O'haul kits from an E bay seller in the US.
The package managed to do a grand tour of the USA via US Evil Pay's postal system arriving 5 weeks after purchase but its here.
The rubber boot plus 2 square slider pieces and a retaining clip.
They were advertised as Jeep CJ6/7 and they actually do fit my Australian High Boy 'bell shaped upper steering joint.
I have reassembled the joint and it looks the 'ducks guts' with a nice new rubber boot and repainted shaft/bell.

Trust this assists those with Canadian assembled Australian righthand drive F-250 High Boys.

all the best to y'all' out there for 2025, regards Ross
