Ok so long story short I have a 2005 6.0 that will no start unless hit with starting fluid...yes I know that's insanely risky but only have done it a few times in order to get off the road....I have replaced the i.c.p. along with the pigtail....put a new IPR in it as well as new seals and stuff on the HPOP...my FICM has good voltage and the pcm is still communicating when I plug in my scanner....only codes are a fuel pump voltage and ICP preassure to high at koeo....I unplug the ICP and still won't start .....I can't figure this truck out I need insight and a answer PLEASE.
What's fuel pressure? When was last time filters where changed?
you can take small fuel filter cap off on top of motor and check to see how fast fuel bowl fills up. Should fill up in a few seconds.
From left field: Are you getting enough cranking rpm for the PCM to tell the injectors to squirt? I think it needs 150. Maybe that's why starting fluid will work?
Another critical input is your injector pressure while cranking and the injector pressure regulator %.
Those will tell you if there is enough pressure to fire and how hard the system has to work to get that pressure.
Ficm sync is also needed to fire but I am assuming you are getting that.
Do you have those numbers?
As a guy with a crank no start 6.0:
Check HPOP
Check injectors
Check compression
Check your engine is not blown! Just kidding with the last one
Remove and clean fuel lines
Have you done the blue spring upgrade, if you haven't change it along with filters
Check the secondary fuel filter valve, when I bought my truck, the part where it clips to the filter simply snapped off and it was tough to start
Do you have a way to record live data. If so
Post some readings.
ipr duty cycle
Icp pressure
Ficm main, logic and vehicle voltage
Rpms at cranking
There are more but you get the just. The more info the better.
What are you using to read peramitors and codes?
