front drum removal- 72

The drum has been off before, I just cant get it off now. I backed off the adjuster, it spins freely, but I cant get it to budge. Ive pulled untill I looked like this guy but to no avail. I heard once a long time ago that you have to take the spindle nut off. I dont want to to this cause I dont have the tools on hand.

I've aways taken mine off by way ot the spindle nut. When you say the drum has been off, did *you* take it off without the spindle nut (rear drum style)?

You have to take the spindle nut off. The nut, bearings, etc are holding the drum down to the spindle. No special tools required to take off the nut. Just a large adjustable wrench..You'll have to pull the cotter pin, and remove the top locking nut that sits over the spindle nut. Once you take it off, and pull the outer bearings out, it will come off. Others have recently described how to torque it back up. You don't want it too tight. There is normally a slight amount of play if you pull the wheel back and forth. Very slight though...You still need a bit of preload. MK

I know its been off before because the PO did a brake job. I got the dust cap off, got the cotter pin out, and my gal called, and I had to button her back up and go over there, so I will get to it tomorrow. Thanks guys.
