Watch the F-150 Lightning Debut Right HERE! (& Member Reactions)
Could also toss a portable gen and a couple gas cans in the back just in case one gets into an area where charging isn't available. Maybe even charge on the fly.
So many questions and they will get answered soon enough. I'm totally stoked and can hardly wait until it's parked in my driveway.

Just got an email from the dealer about my reservation.
"As we receive updates on configurations, pricing, and delivery ETA's we will notify you right away. Right now we are expecting the configurations to open later this year. At that time, we will get together and go over all specifications and features you would like to have on your new F-150 Lightning."
The anticipation is going to drive me nutz!!

One thing to keep in mind, which for the average ev owner it may not be a big deal, but typically li-ion batteries have a limited number of cycles of charge before serious degradation in capacity occurs. That’s why modern smart phone batteries tend to go bad after two years.
1800 lbs of battery sounds expensive to replace so those who drive a lot or tow a lot may want to consider sticking with ICE vehicles for a while or at least consider a plug in if one really wants to go electric for daily driving.

Currently up to $7,500 regardless of trim level.
I don't see where these trucks are a superior option for long trips, or extended heavy load conditions. With the long charge times, I don't see these vehicles putting any sizeable dent in fossil fuels.
That, and we have states doing rolling black outs because their power systems can't handle the current load demands.
Anyone know what type of rechargeable batteries these trucks are using; Ni-MH, Lithium, etc...?

Only once people start to use them in the real world can tweaks and improvements be made. It had to be released some time.
Too bad they didn’t have an inventory of them ready to ship at the reveal. Same issue with the Bronco. Frustrated buyers on a waiting list will jump ship if a competitor is ready for sale first. Don’t see any true competition for this yet. The Hummer is giant, heavy and very expensive. The Cybertruck is just plain weird. Neither are available now either.

so I hope our alphabet agencies are looking into appropriating the government of Chile or something real soon.
I remember all the naysayers back in late 2006 when I chose an Escape hybrid for my work vehicle!
So many "experts" talking about how it was going to bite me in the a$$. Battery this, electric motor that....
I traded it in 2018 with 353,000 miles later, due to the CVT tranny beginning to slip going up hills.
NO repairs on the Hybrid system, not one dime.

I've never been an environmentalist, and my carbon footprint had nothing to do with my decision to buy an electric car. But after two years and almost 40,000 miles, I'm reluctant to own anything else. I've taken it across the country twice, and I'm leaving on another trip tomorrow. It's certainly less convenient on trips, but much easier for the other 95% of my time. The electric powertrain is almost intoxicating, and it's easy to get used to all of the things it does for me that a gas car can't. I can heat up the cabin in the garage during the winter, cool it down in the summer far cheaper than idling, and never have to worry about oil changes or check engine lights with the complicated emissions hardware required on gas engines. Every day I get in and drive. I still have an old Expedition that I tow with, but EVs are great daily drivers.
I haven't placed a deposit on the Lightning yet, but I'm close.
The "truck" has turned into a hybrid truck/SUV with the high number of Crewcab or Extended cab models being built - the bed keeps getting smaller. I always thought that was the point of a truck, the bed. With the Lightning they have been showing, you get a big trunk and a small bed.
I wish they would build a regular cab with a 6.5 bed and 230 mi range model. The front trunk can secure items (you no longer need the extended cab version) and the bed is the move stuff space when you need to. Outfitted in an XLT trim; this would sell well as the daily commuter model. It would easily pull the fishing boat on short trips too.

Here is a good read from the IER about the "Environmental Impact of Lithium Batteries."
