New rear Bumper!

Got my chrome step bumper on my flare side truck this week end. I think it looks good and it's one step closer to tear down for paint. Anyone recognize what truck the bumper was made for?

That step bumper does look great. You’re gonna love it!
what are you tearing down for paint - the bumper or the truck??
-your tailgate latches are flipped around backwards.

(-your tailgate latches are flipped around backwards. The open channel side of the locking bar should face outward when clamped closed. There is a rubber nib that goes into that hole on it that protects the tailgate when closed)

Thanks!
The tailgate latches are all bent and won't latch when put on correctly. I have a replacement tailgate with new hinges and hidden latch and links to install. I need to pick a paint color so I can get it installed. I want to practice my painting on the new tailgate before I do the whole truck. I haven't painted a vehicle in 20 years or so. Paints have changed a bunch since my last paint job and I need to catch up. The current paint was on the truck when I bought it. It wasn't prepped right and it is cracking and flaking in spots.

The latch handles are bent? This is how they go.
But if youre going with hidden then ones, then...

It's the wire loop part that is bent. I'm not disputing that they are backwards. They definitely are. But If I turn them around, they just fall off. When backwards, I can hook them so they at least stay in place.

No matter, they are history real soon.

Oh. OK. The hidden latches are nice!
So what is your step bumper off of? It looks real good and proportionate for the truck.
Here’s mine, old school all the way!

The chrome step bumper is for a 95-04 Toyota Tacoma. It is almost a bolt-on, just some spacers and a couple mods to the mounting brackets. It is a couple of inches shorter (narrower?) than the black bumper that came off. In other words, it doesn't quite come out to the outer edge of the tail lights. I also had to flip the tail light brackets to raise them a couple of inches. It's sold on Ebay and Amazon as a kit with the brackets, lights, bolts, and all.

That bumper you have looks heavy duty! Your tailgate is also in a lots better shape than my original. The bottom of mine is rusted out and bowed. It's the only rust area on the truck.

Nice work on the bumper! I was gonna guess it came off a Chebby...

First its your truck so build it your way.
With that said I think its a little to wide.My brother said he saw a flare side, 80's as that is what I have, that had a step bumper and he thought it was off a S10 Chevy but was not 100% sure.
He is a body man and has seen a lot over his 50+ years.
Do they make a straight one like this on my 81 F100 flare side?

Yes I did shave the bumper bolts front & rear.
I also looked into hidden gate latches. What did you go with a bought kit or the seat belt clips?

The bumper that came off is 65 inches. The replacement is 62.5 inches so it is actually over an inch shorter on each side. The picture doesn't show it but I'll try and get a better angle.

From this angle, you can see that it's about an inch short of the outer edge of the lights. It's not as short as yours, but I think it's ok.

That angel does look better
I guess seeing that style bumper on a flare just throws off how i see it fitting

Latch Kit is good. I looked into the kits and to use seat belt buckles for mine.
I also did not have a tail gate and was going to use the rear wall from my parts truck, it was a roll over so not much could be used, so the hidden latch would have fit right in.
Brother found my gate and chains and happy with them over the home made gate I would have made.
