Does this sound like a GEM module ?

A while ago I had the roof of my truck painted. When the guy pulled the windshield out to paint the roof he noticed that there was rust on top where the seal is against the cab. I remember on one of my old trucks at the water will drip down on the GEM module and leave the blower motor on.

In the truck I mentioned above that got painted I remember driving somewhere in heavy rain storm and having water come down the “A” pillar... this was before I had the window replaced and the cab painted. If I remember right I had the a pillar plastic off because I was noticing the carpet was wet and I was trying to see if it was dripping anyway. This was probably 2 years ago.

I recently went on a trip and noticed that the cruise control light no longer comes on. I can use cruise control but the light does not come on on the dashboard. I also have no illumination on my lock switches on the doors or my window switches. The radio also does not stay on when you turn the ignition off. It used to stay on until I opened up the door.

I checked all of the fuses in the driver side panel in the cab and all of them are fine.

Was the rust damage repaired? Any rain on the recent trip?

Yea he sand blasted and repainted.

no rain here for about 2 weeks. I never took the module out to see if it was wet when it happened a few years ago

Maybe, but might just be a blown out bulb for the cruise control. Maybe there is a problem with the light/illumination circuit for the door switch.

I cannot comment on the radio staying on after the truck is turned off, I removed my radio because it would turn on and off by itself and start playing a CD if it felt like it. These radios have been known to exhibit all sorts of strange behaviors as they get older.

Usually when there is a GEM issue, there will be DTC's. Below is some information on the GEM.

GEM - General Electrical ModuleIn addition to that, many of us have access to the wiring diagrams and service manual in case you need anything specific.

Sorry for the delay. Here are the codes I pulled. I did clear the codes first then cycled the key and pulled the codes again. I knew about the AIH delete.

Sorry to bring this back up.

do any of the codes above look concerning ? Some seem to make sense but I want to see if it was a failing GEM module or something else.

Have you tried the pinpoint tests that @Sous listed? That will answer your questions.
