Ok about a year ago after about two days of straight rain and not moving my truck 98 Exp EB 4x4, when I started it all of the lights on the dash blinked on and off. All of them, even the criuse control. Also it sputtered but luckily I was near home. Its done this like 2 time/ year. Ok Last week same thing but this time the radio came on and I wasnt in the truck, headlights turned themselves on, and the vehicle even was trying to start its self without the key in the ignition, and there was a clicking sound from the driver side of the engine bay towards the rear near the fire wall. I had to unplug the battery. I did this over night for 2 days then it stopped doing it.It been fine for a week but I wanna know what in the hell is going on. Thinking about taking it into the Stealership.
Mine did this a year or two ago after a hard rain. It was the ECM (Electric Control Module or General Control Module). About $200 to have a shop diagnose and in stall a new one. I asked them if it was from getting wet from a leak and they maintained that they were confident the windshield was not leaking and it was not wet. They said they just go on the fritz once in awhile. It has been fine every since. Except recently my driver power window quit working. When I hit the button, i can hear a click under the dash by the fuses so i am thinking it is not the fuse since this is the only thing acting up. I wonder if it could be the atu down relay ? Sorry to piggyback onto your post.
What was the cause of your drivers side window not working? I have the same symptons and just went through the whole rain, leaking windshield thing,(still going through it actually) anyway I replaced the fusebox and all and was hoping that would fix the window but no such luck? any help greatly welcomed and thankfully.
I still have not fixed the driver window, I am just living with it since I do not drive this vehicle every day. It is not related to when my electronic control module went out though. That was a couple of years ago. I am thinking of maybe just buying a new window regulator/motor and putting it in. I do not know what else it could be since it is not the fuse or relay. Right now it does not work at all. Let me know what you find out.
I had the exact same prob after it rained. I replaced the windshield & I think it is all fixed. Except for 2 things that still don't work. I lost the rear wiper & the map lights won't work, anybody got any ideas how to fix those 2 things?
Replace the rear wiper motor... very common problem.. or just turn it on and bounce the wiper down a couple good jolts and it should work for a little while.
My Expy windshield had to be sealed 4 times before the leaks stopped... last time they removed the glass and put in a whole new seal. Another very common problem for Expy and F150 and Super Duty.
