I am looking to do the same thing. However, I just finished replacing the weather stripping in my doors, for the roll up windows, and I used Dennis Carpenter pieces. They were exceptional quality in my opinion. I plan to use their rear window seal as well. Just thought I would share.

I have all the same stuff as well. I think they all come from the same source but could be wrong.
Most are the same imported crap with different labels.
I just went through this , the LMC gasket was unusable so I ordered a supposed American made one from RTRW. it wasn't much better, and I believe they supply DC. so my glass guy ordered one from Precision and we had a hell of a time but we got it in . ALL of them were too small and looked basically the same. were they all the same ? not sure.
This was the version with the chrome lock strip. there is also a version for the aluminum trim and another that's plain. those may fit different I can't say.
I used LMC no strip version for my front windshield and my back stationary glass. Fit was nice and tight and installed with no issues. For those that are installing your own....I recommend using suction cups for grabbing the glass. Bought mine at Harbor Freight, since it was a one time use. Helps in the handling and pressure application. I also used 1/16 sheathed cable to run the seal into the channel. Cable doesn't break and the sheath won't cause damage to channel or seal.
I ordered the plain seal, hopefully I'll have the same experience with the fit. I have opted to have someone do it for me. Just nervous something wouldn't go right. I like doing my own work but have no issue with letting a professional do something I am not comfortable with.
I appreciate all the feedback. I'll let you know once the part gets here and it is installed.
Don't blame you. When I replaced my seal, I used my hands the first time and cracked the front windshield, hence the purchase of the suction cups. I was just fortunate that PNP had a donor with a windshield in great shape! Good luck with your project!
I bought one from lmc and could not install it. It did not fit the window to good. I just got a good used factory one from a truck on marketplace, very easy to install. Lol just this week.
I used weed trimmer line had good luck with it also
I just used your method this weekend installing a '94 slider into my '78, came with the original gasket. Weed trimmer line worked great! Thanks for the idea.
