I think my seat motor is burned up. I can get it to raise and lower the front of the seat but unable to get it to slide back and forth. I was going to remove the seat to see if anything is stuck in the track (probably not since it doesn't even make a sound) but I am unable to get a torx bit on the rear bolts. Due to the position of the seat I can't get the bit on it. Is there a release somewhere? I also thought it might be the switch but I tested with a meter and everything looks ok and it does work somewhat raising the front portion of the seat.
Any ideas on getting a torx to fit so I can remove the seat? Any other things I should be looking at?
My experience was that the seat had to move. Problem was the size of the torx bit caused the socket to be long. You might find a short one and get in there with a breaker bar. Or possibly use a wobble adapter to get in there. I don't believe there's a release anywhere in the system.
You might be able to remove the seat to carriage bolts which takes the seat off the track frame. Something like a 10mm bolt. Pic from Ebay listing to show.
Also, the inner rear is a nut on a stud (5/8 or 11/16, I can't remember). You should be able to take that off with a wrench. The Torx is T55. You might be able to put a wrench on the part of the Torx bit where it sticks out of the bolt head and turn it that way. Spray some PB Blaster on that Torx bolt from underneath the truck beforehand.
Just FYI, The T55 is a Torx Plus but, a regular 55 will work, but if it's super tight, rusted, or really stubborn, the bit may break. But once you get it freed, and lubricated going forward the T55 will be fine.
