Driving my truck today, the trans was whining, almost sounded like a supercharger lol, when I parked it for a half hour it puked out all the trans fluid.
so I opened the cover under the bell and behind the clutch and flywheel, there is a crack into the resiovior, ie: draining all of my fluid.
it almost looks like a plug or plate in that spot but it looked fixed to the housing. Can anyone help as to why or what did it. I’m gonna end up dropping the trans and investigating more in the next week. Either I diagnose it and try to get it welded or I’m shopping for a new ZF5
If it sounded like a blower, you have massive internal damage. BTDT when I rebuilt mine. Below the input is the counter shaft, someone could have gone in there before and failed to install something properly. OR could have seated the bearing race too hard and fractured the case.
Clutch pedal up and in neutral still spins the input shaft and the counter shaft. I would not start nor run that truck at all to limit the internal damage as it will not hold any ATF.
