trans problem pouring fluid

I have 93 f150 with 4.9 6 and aod i was coming home and stopped at a stop sign and smoke started coming from under my truck. I looked under the truck and trans fluid was pouring from between trans and engine out bell housing. I let it cool down and try to make it to a store but would not move. I walked to store got me some trans fluid 8qts put it in and the thing went into drive fine. i keep checking for any fluid leaking out but don't see any major leaks. the trans was working fine before this but i've added a qt of fluid about ever 60 days. i try to check i on every fill up. i put about 150 mile a day on my truck. any ideals what caused i to pour out and then just stop. thanks for any help.

Trans Work Time

Unfortunately the seal has now been damaged and has to be replaced and soon. If you don't have the right tools (which the average guy doesn't) it's worth it to take it to the shop and get it done. Have them just do a routine rebuild and the cost should be lower as there should be no hard parts damaged. Be sure and check the small vent line on the top of the trans as this will cause an increase in pressure and blow not just the input but also the output. Do it quick though as you will start leaking again and will probably not be as lucky the next time.
