Bad Injector Symptoms
My truck would run ok on flat ground (i.e. not under load), but under load would lose power and shake. Everything I read seemed to indicate this was a timing issue (pre-ignition or detonation), so I adjusted timing, check plugs and plug wires, etc but never found the problem. I checked the temperature of my header tubes with a digital thermometer and found that #6 was much cooler than the rest. Then I pulled the plug off the #6 injector and the idle didn't change (it did when I pulled the plug on the other injectors). I made sure that the injector plug had power and that the ECU was pulsing ground to it to make the injector fire. Finally, I was convinced that it was the injector, so I changed the injector for #6 and now my truck runs smooth and power is back where it should be.
It took me a while to figure it out, so I thought I'd share in case someone else was chasing a similar issue.
