I know what you are going to say. HIGH PRESSURE OIL!
It's not that. It gets to over 600 psi on a hot crank no start. We have replaced everything in the oil system. HPOP, rails, all injectors, STC fitting, pressure switch, ICP, stand pipes and dummies, etc.
I was thinking maybe fuel pressure? saw that it has to have 20 psi to start, and needs to be above 41 when running. But does not appear that the CTS Edge reads fuel pressure, so I may have to install a manual gauge? Is there anything else I should be checking?
I do want to add, my current tune on the truck does not account for some slightly oversized injectors (155CC STOCK NOZZLE), but does account for the slightly oversized turbo. (Garret Powermax).
it did start up after a few tries over the course of about 5 minutes, will be trying again soon, this coming weekend it seems. this truck has been sitting much of the last year and a half after failure after failure after failure. lately sitting for 9 months after breaking down on the way home from the shop. just trying to get it reliable to sell.
You need a minimum at all times of over 45 psig according to Ford. IMO a 50 psig minimum would be a better value because you never know when a gauge/sensor might be a little off.
It is highly recommended to get and install a fuel pressure gauge.
How fast will the fuel pump fill the secondary fuel filter bowl (filter removed) with the key on?
the fuel pump kicks off within a few seconds after key on, same as always, well before the edge boots up.
not done bubble test, but what will that tell me if it passes/fails? looked up how to do that, I'll do that when I guess I order a new fuel filter cap to attach a gauge there.
No codes from edge. (besides the ever present EGR code...)
It will only take a few seconds to fill the filter bowl if everything is working like it should be ........................... But hey, maybe that isn't your issue.
Watch this. Don’t need a scan gauge, other readers can be used, like Forscan.
Sync makes sure the FICM knows where the engine rotation is so the fuel is injected at the correct time. Based on cam and crank sensor inputs.
So, seems to be a RPM issue, my guess would be that it is related to this voltage drain issue I am having, and it just not want to spin as quickly as when 'cold' (it is 80 degrees outside, it is never cold). it took a few seconds to hit 150 rpm on the edge, but once it did it fired right up.
Brand new, went in Friday. and there was a voltage drop long before, hence why the batteries needed replacing. I have them disconnected right now until I am ready to work on it again.
