05 6.0 In the beginning a hot no start or just a no start? Local diesel shop that mainly does diesel injection pump & nozzle rebuilding agreed to work on 6.0. They have a trained tech that has had some schooling on 6.0 Fords. Diagnosed it as a HPOP failure. Installed new HPOP, IPR( hole blown in screen) & #2 injector ( had been some miss or stiction on start up). Sounds like a reasonable repair or at least normal for a 6.0. To the tune of $2400. Drove across town shut it off yep you guessed it No Start. Shop towed back New HPOP failed ( a rebuild from Aliant ). Replacement HPOP installed & another IPR installed parts and labor covered under warranty. #5 injector showing bad - replaced. Still no hot start. Mechanic felt low oil pressure from LPOP. Checked with gauge 55 psi cold 5 psi hot. Installed new oil pressure regulator now carries 10 psi hot. # 8 injector shows bad. Anyways been without truck for 6 weeks now by my choice had rest of injectors replaced ( don't want anymore trouble) really needing pick up for work $2900. 320 miles later No Start. Towed to Ford #5 piston oiling tube had gone through low oil pressure pump & # 5 cylinder scored badly -- engine or short block needs replaced. I have not paid the $2900 bill not sure I am going to. What would you do? My feeling is original shop should have qualified LOP from the start & I have wasted over 5K.
10 psi lpo?? As for the bill sounds like they really didn't fix it correctly and or diagnose the problem. Might need to have a one on one with the manager. You will owe something but maybe they will work with you on the labor.

Ha, I knew I read LPO but my brain registered fuel pressure

This is why having gauges that read live data is so valuable, they allow you to diagnose the problem on your own so you can make informed decisions regarding the repair.

Got a edge cts gauge but I dont think it reads the pressure comming off of the lop. Besides it was running fine just shut it off n never started again. Been almost 2 mos. ago mostly remember icp low when checking codes
There's no LPO sending unit or gauge on a 6.0L to read through an OBDII connected scanner. LPO is regulated to 75psi at the LPOP, and if you're somehow monitoring LPO pressure (via a gauge on the pressure switch port on the oil filter base), per the book LPO is supposed to be a minimum of:
12 psi at 700 rpm
24 psi at 1,200 rpm
45 psi at 1,800 rpm with the engine at operating temperature.
Assume you are refering to the piston j-jet.
it should have been a given that something went trew the pump when he had it a part.
Relitive compression should have showen a bad cyclinder, blowby should have been seen while running the engine with the oil fill cap off.
Plenty of mistakes made here.
Finding the cheepist estimate for repair is often costly.
Thanks Texas tech. I'm now curious how it had 55# cold and 5# hot. After they changed OPEN regulator it had 10# hot. Really makes wonder if they just came up with those numbers
