I just installed LED turn signals in my '95 along with an LED compatible flasher relay. Everything works fine except when my running lights or headlights are on. They come on and stay solid until I turn off my headlights or running lights. Any suggestions?
I used to have Sylvania LEDs with the same flasher relay and those worked fine. I really like the Lasfit bulbs better and I would like to keep them without cutting into the factory wiring. Any suggestions? Its a '95 F-150 Eddie Bauer extended cab.
Don't have any suggestions regarding anything LED. Because I had nothing but problems getting my cruise control to engage and just overall E4OD transmission erratic shifting problems when I tried using a LED bulb in the third brake light, to reduce the heat melting the socket and deforming the actual third brake light.
I think you need a resistor in there. The relay didn't work for me either. So now I have the LED relay and resistors, works like a charm. You can mount them behind the headlight assembly, see pic below. I know you don't want to cut into the factory harness but this procedure is not really invasive. Just my two cents
I'm sure I don't have an answer,, but DO feel ya pain Bro. Added a used topper to the beast, It had the brake light on the back lid,, I wired it down to the connector for the trailer hitch lights,, to what seemed the brakeing light wires. Later noticed when my head lights were on the L signal would not blink. Then later on noticed my cruse control that had worked ,, would not,, So after much aggrivation I just un hooked the topper light, And who-da thunkit,, the signal works and cruse control works too. Seems everything I touch on this rig caused 4 more issues, If you figure out your issue let me know. Might be another starting place for me
I had a led in the third brake light with out any resistors and the transmission worked fine. I have the 4R70W trans, though. The transmission still works fine. Went to NAPA today and they sell this flasher relay. It works great. Solved my issues. I put Lasfit LEDs in my front turns signals and Sylvania LEDs in the rear brake/turn. I have that setup because they seem to be the brightest in those certain applications.
The only thing is that you need to switch the connections in the turn signal location. The 4 way flasher terminals are fine. The turn signals seem to be reversed. It didn't work right away until I connected some wire to the opposite terminals and then it worked.
