Tire Size and Type

Hello everyone, i have a 1993 F150 XLT and my tires are going bald after 50,000 miles. I think its time to change...especially when winter is on its way here in San Diego, California.
I don't have any money for a raise nor do i have any money for new wheels. But i need to change these tires. Right now my tires are "called" Steel Belted Radial ATR....so i don't know the manafacturer, but they have a similar tred design like some popular GENERAL tires. The size is the stock 30x9.5x15, or if some of u prefer...the 235/75R15's. I wanna try to put a different size on there.
Can any of u tell me if i can put 31x10.5x15's on here safely? The one inch increse in diameter prabobly won't do much to the speedo and if i can get the chance to lower the RPMs at highway speeds then...even better. But i don't want it to rub on anything or mess with any vital adjustments like camber or whatever....can any of u give me any insights to this problem and experiences of your own?

I have 31x10.5 x15 All Terrains mounted on 15 X 8 inch Ford steel ralleys on my truck. They fit no problem. I bought them at Costco. Paid $110 each installed, with new valves even! They have a 60K mile wear/road hazard warranty plus free balancing and rotation every 6K miles. They have an aggressive tread that works real well on wet, steep, loose surfaces (sand, gravel, small rocks) as well as wet or dry pavement. I haven't been "muddin" with them but have been in mud and they pull and clear well there too. They do tend to pick up a lot of small stones that go flying the first time back out on the highway! They ride quite hard, but then I'm running them at 45 psi. I've put 5K miles on them since installed and no visable wear yet. So far I'm very pleased.
