Extra WARRANTY Scam??? HELP!!!

Hello
This Tuesday 4/20/21 i purchased a brand new 2021 F250 with the 6.7 PowerStroke. I placed the order for the truck back in early February because I wanted a specific build and I ended up getting 7k off the MSRP which is a crazy good deal. I am 24 years old and this was the first time i ever financed or purchased a new vehicle. I've had 2 Ford trucks before, a mustang and an LS built Chevy. I've always done all the repairs and services myself as i was born around drag cars. When I purchased the truck I was under the impression that this engine had 5yr/100k mile powertrain warranty, and 3y/36k mile bumper to bumper warranty. When i was completing the paperwork the finance manager sold me a "Mechanical Breakdown Platinum warranty" 5yr/60k miles for $1615 and a Maintenance package 3yr/36k miles for $1374. He was breaking down the numbers for the cost to maintain the truck and said i would easily spend $600 on DEF, sounds like BS. He was telling me that the powertrain warranty and bumper to bumper only cover so much and that this warranty covers everything else. He was very convincing and i thought he sold me an extended coverage when it wasn't. When i read the paperwork and what it covers it seems like BS to me. Then the maintenance plan covers 6 oil changes/filter changes and tire rotation every 6 months. When i told him that i would perform those services on my own he said that any warranty repairs would come out of my pocket because Ford wants documented services by their techs and that even if i save my receipts of oil and filters they wont honor it. I have the option to remove these packages charge free for 60 days. When i told the finance manager that i wanted to remove them he made it sound like a terrible idea and i just left without getting anything done. He also said that my payments would stay the same even though i removed the maintenance and mechanical warranty because it would be refunded at the end of the loan. I will post pictures of the paperwork and if you guys can give me some input i would greatly appreciate it. I don't want to get scammed into paying for some warranty that wont cover anything.

PS; I brought it up to the guy that i would be deleting the truck so the warranty would be voided and he said i can delete the truck and tune it but just bring it back it with the stock tune whenever I was to do a service and it would be fine. I think he was lying

If you delete the truck, your warranty will be voided......period.
Any Ford dealership computer can tell if a vehicle has been tuned before and if the owner put it back to stock before coming in for warranty work.

The only ESP worth buying is a Ford backed ESP.

The warranty that you described sounds like a second party warranty that’s offered by the dealer because they make more money on them compared to the Ford backed ESP which is valid in the USA and Canada.

You should go online to Lombard Ford or Flood Ford and price out a Ford backed Premium ESP that covers everything for the maximum years and miles.

Also, if you’re going to do stuff like deleting your truck, just forget about the ESP.

You need to read and find the cancelation terms and cancel.

Never bet against the house. That is all an extended warranty is. Nothing more, nothing less.

Sorry, but you were lied to by a smooth talking flim-flam finance guy. The finance guy makes more money for the typical dealership than the sales guy. There are so many add ons or products to sell that generate a ton of profit. Don't trust what this guy is telling you. Everything he says to intended to take money from your pocket and not to give you straight forward, honest information.

I would cancel the extended warranty and service plans. Since you rolled the cost into your financing, it may not be straight forward to get a refund right away but I would try. The plans have been paid for from the loan proceeds. You may be able to get a refund from the warranty company but your monthly payments won't change. You should not have to wait until the end of your loan to get a refund. Read the contract terms for refunds carefully.

I suggest looking at refinancing through your bank or credit union. I suspect you went through the dealer for financing. If that works out for you then you can separate yourself from the finance guy and get your refund. You can try complaining to the general manager at the dealership.

Good luck.

Oh the lessons that have to be learned by the young and naïve.
They saw you coming and had your number, and they are experts at the old bait and switch and hard pressure sales tactics.

Get a refund on the extra warranty and service contract.

And, yes, delete voids all powertrain warranties, and when you delete the emissions you can't simply switch the tuning back, because all those emissions hard parts have been deleted and the truck won't operate correctly on the original tune anymore.

But, of course, the best thing to do is DO NOT DELETE!!!

EPA is racing forward with crackdowns and new rules and enforcement and if you delete you will soon be putting all those emission parts back on.

Yeah i know and im glad this happened to me because this is a good learning experience. When i told him that i wanted them removed he smooth talked me out of doing so and told me "you are family here and we take care of our own". Going on Tuesday to have the bed liner installed and im going to tell him to remove the warranty. Do you recommend i keep the maintenance?

You better act upon step one of the cancelation immediately. Return to the dealer. Be warned they will offer a discount, free oil changes and more to prevent you from canceling. They stand to make 1500.00 minimum off these packages.

If you're the least bit handy, then cancel the maintenance also.

I doubt that I'll pay $600 for DEF in the first 10 years of ownership of my F-350./

That reads as a refund should be issued within 60 days of cancelation. The dealer telling you that the refund is not issued till the end of your loan term seems be another lie.

Salesman and other dealership personnel get their bad reputation from **** heads like these that you dealt with. People like that should not be employed.

The warranty looks to be pretty comprehensive, not sure how it compares to an actual Ford ESP. It essentially turns your 3yr/36k mi. bumper to bumper into a 5yr/60k mi. bumper to bumper warranty. With some exceptions I imagine.

The maintenance plan looks to be a 3 year 45k mi. plan, with a 7,500mi. oil change interval. I would have to add up how many oil changes, fuel filter and air filter changes you would likely have in that 45k miles to judge how good the price is. But if you plan to do the regular maintenance yourself then you don't need the plan. I would be very surprised if the plan is cheaper than doing it all yourself.

And there's this... https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0138-auto-warranties-routine-maintenance

Yeah i know how to do any type of service on a vehicle, what scared me is what he said that if i don't take it in to have the services done, then the warranty is voided completely. I didn't know any better because ive never had warranty on a vehicle before. I'm glad you mentioned that because I'm going to point that out to him that i want the money back. He's gonna be pissed.

More BS from the finance guy. What a schmuck.

I've been buying most of my vehicles from an auto broker. He's a no BS guy. The purchase (signing papers, writing a check) takes maybe five minutes. My wife accompanied me to the first purchase with the auto broker and she was stunned at how simple and quick it was. I bought a used car from him and he delivered it to my house. I signed the papers in the driveway.

X10 go back and cancel the third party warranty. GO with FORD ESP there are many dealers that sell them online and great discounts
lombard, zeigler, etc. google and it will bring up lots

as far as a maint package..RUN

i have had ford esp on all the fords we have owned since 1992, i can say the house did not win on the 7.3 or the 6.0 with crazy stuff
i had it on my 2016 exp and it was never used, but he esp on the wifes 2012 edge, yes we still have an ESP on it , paid for itself in dec with new struts

they will scream and cry, but bottom line is its your money.
lots of dealers offer a lifetime warranty...its complete BS, you have to pay for all scheduled maintenance and do it at their locations...they win

i will add with these level of electronics in our trucks, add on the LED protection parts of the esp, at least

An extended warranty is an insurance policy. If you can cover a $10K engine replacement on that diesel, you don't need an extended warranty. Also, not a bad thing to do at 24 is spend the next five years or 50,000 miles saving $10K, just in case. If it doesn't fails, you'll have a nice start to a retirement fund.
