I put one of these on a Cummins I had plus the Banks airbox. It really woke the the truck up but I had a mild tune on it too. If I don't have the truck tuned would one of these hurt the reliability of the 6.0? I have a straight threw exhaust and stock airbox but no other performance products. As I understand it this kit just smooths the airflow from the intercooler. Thanks.
Be interested to hear views on this. My intake system is looking pretty nasty and I’m wondering whether to buy the Bank’s system complete with inter cooler and intake elbow.
Friend of mine had the Banks intake system (pipes, intercooler, and “high-ram” intake elbow) on his 2005. They are quality pieces but the pipes are large enough that they don’t allow you to put coolant or oil filtration kits in the usual location by the radiator. We ended up replacing the pipes and also the intake elbow with one of the common kits out there. Had to get adapters to fit the larger Banks intercooler inlet/outlet openings.
Honestly I’d just get a pipe/intake elbow kit and save a lot of money. The new intake elbow gets rid of the stock airflow interruption spots.
The elbow and pipe kit I'm referring to is about $400. No intercooler involved. From what I understand it just smooths the air flow from the intercooler. I'm not looking for a performance
gain really , just seems like it would be better for the motor. However, does it hurt reliability on the 6.0?
Thanks for the info on the manifold probably worth the money but more than I want to spend. Maybe I'll just paint my intake elbow red and save the money for repair work.
I hear good things from that manifold, seems it’s an option with all the KDD builds, sounds like a good idea.
Let me think about it, got the letter yesterday saying I’ll be taking ownership of the house in Germany next month, so this summer there’ll be plenty of hauling going on - insulation, heating system, Kuchen to put in before winter.
Could be a project for next year.

If you get the whole banks intercooler, Intercooler pipes, and Ram Air, you'll notice the same beastly performance as you did on your Cummins. It does indeed smooth out the airflow but also has a larger opening. I'm actually looking for one myself. I maintain my cooling system and never really had a need for a coolant filter on my 6.0. It was there, but I never really needed it.
