Banks power

Why does no one seem to recommend the banks products on here. Looking at their site. They seem to have just about every mod figured out, and in kits. Including the intercooler.

I'm looking at doing an exhaust kit on my truck before long including the down pipe. And thinking about an intercooler later on.

Mainly because of its price. Your paying for the name like you do with John Deere, Snapon tools, and anything from a Cabellas catalog lol.

For example, Bank's intercooler setup is $1400 bucks. A custom setup can be made for 5-600. And it will work just as good if not better than banks kit.

The banks IC is a bit small compared to a 6.0 cooler IIRC.

The only useful thing from the banks kit is the spider.

Banks has openly stated that PowerStrokes are Junk and absolute Garbage.
So I refuse to buy his products.

Im not saying theyre quality isnt good, just a lot more money than id like to spend.

There are some things id buy from them, like their sidewinder turbo kit for the IDI's. But for the PSD there are hundreds of other competitors to choose from. For the IDI, there are very few places as far as injectors, turbos, and things like that go.

Yeah mainly price.

I got a e99 spyder shipped to my door for 125(which I thought was high.. Ive seen people get them for 65 shipped.. but they seem to be rare right now so oh well) and I got a set of welded aluminum pipes and a 7.3 aluminum IC (the one with aluminum brackets on it from the e99 as well) for 150. so add on the boots for probably $100 and I have an entire intercooler setup for $375

Speaking of which does anybody have the link to get all boots or clamps necessary for an intercooler setup? I looked on RiffRaff and there is the RDP complete setup but it is under the 99-03 section.. is this one correct?

A lot of folks like Banks because their stickers give larger horsepower gains than most other brands stickers.

I was wondering the same thing..... I am using different plenums but was trying to figure out how to get the two 3" intake plenum boots, 2 boots for the 6.0 cooler (3 and 3.25), and two 3" boots for the charge piping (1 that hooks up to the 99.5+ spyder and one that would just hook two 3" charge tubes together allowing a bit of flex)..... I figured I would have to call and hopefully someone over the phone could assist.

Yeah i was just looking at them. I just don't know which way to go.

How much "trouble" do you get in with out the Cat in place? Or is just a matter of finding someone that will do the inspection on the truck without it in place? Or is it better to go ahead and put one on?

Then there is the question of 3 or 4" pipe. I understand that you can only get a 3" dp in place. Then you'd upsize it to 4 or 5" if you wanted to go bigger.

There are just to many options to consider since its not something you can try out and then send back if you don't like it.

FWIW I have a 3" dp to 4" straight back out the factory end.
I love it.. nice whistle... no soot on my rear tire or bumper...good throaty sound, but not ridiculously loud.

There is no reason to have a cat, except for inspection. There are some places that will fail you instantly if its not on there and others who do not give a rats a$$ what you have on there, as long as you pass the emission standards. All depends what state you are in too. I do not run a cat or muffler. Only reason for it is people see black coming out of the tailpipe on diesels and instantly they think its polluting like crazy. The fact is Diesels burn much cleaner than gassers.

3 inch down pipe is the standard... there are a few companies that go bigger, but have fun doing the extra tunnel modification to get a bigger pipe to fit. Its hard enough to get the 3 inch down pipe to fit as it is. 4 inch main pipe back seems to be the standard for all as well. 5 inch is only necessary when your pushing big HP numbers and need the flow and the majority of us are not...oh yeah it looks cooler. Just like stainless steel I was pretty happy with a full Diamond Eye Turbo back exhaust including 2 piece down pipe from Riff Raff Diesel

http://www.riffraffdiesel.com/mm5/me...OBS-ESC-1-ALUM

Very easy install and the hardest part was getting the firewall/tunnel messaged back far enough to get the DP to fit without rubbing... other than that great fitup for a very cheap cost.

If your worried about the Cat...weld some flanges in or have a shop do it so you can bolt it in for inspection then come homeand take it out and bolt in a straight pipe with flanges..... It was what I was going to do if I had to.

I live in South East Texas. I just had my truck inspected the other day. I bought the truck less then a year ago and thought the dark tint on the windows where very nice. It makes a Hot day comfortable in the truck. I went to three different places before I could get the truck inspected. The first one told me to get out of there before he called me in, and the next one "showed" me that they were to dark. But the place I finally got it done at, never said a thing about it. But they did try selling me a bunch of other stuff including batteries which mine where brand new.
