I bought the Ford trailer camera and TPS kit with the new truck and I am not real happy with it so far. I am trying to install the TPS equipment on the trailer and it has some cute pieces but things seem pretty cheap. The cable from the trailer TPS sender to the plug in on the truck is way too long for a bumper pulled trailer. I either have to coil the excess or remove a section and splice it back together to shorten the length. Neither seems like a good idea. Anyone ever fixed this problem and have a good idea?
Next is the quality of the “cable” to the truck plug-in, it is just the wires enclosed in a light weight split loom with a layer of black tape. I think split loom would be enough in a enclosed area but seems like it will crack and just be hanging by the wires in the wind soon. Sun and weather will break down the split loom I am sure. Really needs a heavy duty flexible electrical hook-up cable like on every trailer plug I see. I am thinking of wrapping the split loom with spiral loom but where the wires come out of the plug will still flex and eventually break. Anybody have a better idea?
