What do you guys recommend for an aftermarket screen thinking about putting something bigger than 8 inch screen I don’t wanna loose functions. Is it plug and play? How does it work vs stock ? Thanks
someone offers a kit for installing an ipad in the dash to control all functions of the truck. that's all I remember. Hopefully a member will chime in with more info
I have a 12 inch android radio. Only lost my door chime that plays through the door speakers(didn't like it anyway). It's froze on me once on startup, but I've had it for a year now so I don't think that's too bad.
I'm not a fan of touchscreens, but I did upgrade my non-touchscreen OEM radio for a Pioneer AVIC-8200NEX. I wanted navigation, and better control over aftermarket speakers and a subwoofer.
I can actually watch a DVD, TV (rabbit ears), and the usual CD, USB, AUX, Apple Carplay, and even a HDMI connection (I can hook up a Xbox/Playstation if I wanted and play). I like that the screen is a capacitive screen...which means it is just like the screen on a smart phone. Look for this, as a lot of the cheaper units use a screen that is pressure sensitive...meaning you have to press the screen instead of just touch it. They are also finniky in cold & hot weather. Since you're looking for a larger screen, this will probably not be an issue you will run into...but it is common on the double-din units under $1k (or was at the time I bought mine....technology moves fast though!)
I’m definitely not a fan of the aftermarket touch screens, especially Linkswell.
The usual ***** are second nature to adjust while not needing a look, and when you have to deal with different screens and small touch spots for everything, it’s unsafe.
Also, after seeing the new horizontal 12” Ford screen, the aftermarket vertical set up looks instantly dated.

Not true about an iPad controlling the functions of the truck but having an iPad installed is possible and true and has been done many times before.
