I don’t rely on the Blis system a whole lot but it is a nice redundant safety feature to have. I have my 25 foot trailer programmed as 27 feet and have noticed the blis indicator lights don’t come on until the vehicle driving along is like midway alongside my trailer. I’ve noticed my driver side blis indicator seems to be a little more accurate then my passenger side.
Anyone else experience this?

I have a 34 1/2 ‘ trailer, and setup the BLIS for the longest length, which isn’t enough for the length of the trailer.
I really only rely on my mirrors for lane changes, and others along side me.
“There is no replacement for situational awareness”.
I always wondered about Ford's extended BLIS coverage for trailer towing. If a vehicle is along side my trailer it is NOT in the blind spot. I can clearly see it in my mirrors. Seems like just another gimmick to add to the list of driver assisted towing features.
BLIS on a Ford truck is awful. Tiny little light on the far corner of the mirror; there should be a light inside the door. Vehicle is 18" from your rear bumper before it alerts (if you can it that). Does NOTHING to indicate an approaching vehicle.
If you think it is great, you haven't experienced what this kind of a system CAN be. The system on our Audi is light years ahead of the Ford system. (And the Audi cost less than our Ford truck)
I don't have BLIS enabled for my bumper pull toy hauler. I thought my trailer was too wide, but the owner's manual says it should work. I might try it out the next time I tow.
Yes, the passing vehicle should be in your mirrors, but the BLIS light is a handy reminder to let you know in case you haven't checked the mirrors recently. However, since the light is off in your peripheral vision, it's easy to miss it.
