Carb spacer thickness.

I'm getting closer to to having everything I need to swap to a Clifford 2x4 intake. Got a set of EFI manifolds to go with it. Got one tear-drop air cleaner, looking for another. I think if I had to I could run it with the stock round air cleaner and have them both clear. Plan is to run a pair of Carter one barrels with the intake. Got some aluminum stock coming in to make the adapters. Do you guys think 1.5" is too thick? And would there be any benefit to adding spiral grooves to the underside of the adapter?

1.5 will work, but no better than a much thinner adapter.
Forget about spiral grooves. Snake oil "cure".

Would there be any benefit in trying to shape the adapter to make the path to the longer runners direct while "interfering" with the short path some?

I'll suppose that there would be little-to-no benefit.
