I know it'd be a PITA, but you're already in that territory - how about trying another controller? Maybe you got a defective one... If it were to work, Ford should honor the warranty on the bad one.
The problem is I bought he controller on line from Fairway. I am going to try another trailer plug at the rear of the truck 1st
On a temporary basis, I would run a separate ground wire from the battery negative post to a bare metal spot on the trailer. Trying to eliminate any ground issues.
