Hello;
Does anyone know if a 5 speed trans out of a 1986 ranger with a 2.0 engine bolt up to a 89 f150 with a 302 and a 4 speed trans.
Thanks in advance for your info.
Jack
Nope, won't fit. Even if it did, it would not handle the torque from the 302. That 4-spd is tough as nails, but I understand the need for the OD. Find a M5OD out of a 89-96 f150 w/ a 5.0L or the 4.9L. either will fit, just grab the driveshafts with it. You may need the flywheel and clutch setup also but everything is a direct bolt on. Better yet, find a ZF 5-spd. out of a f250 with either a 300-6, 302 or 351w, granny low 1st gear, 3-spd, and 5th is a nice high geared ( lower numerically) OD. Best of both worlds, IMO.
