Hi;
Does anyone know what the number E9TA fits?
CA
That is how the number is written on the side of the transmission.
I brought it to go into my 1989 f150 with the 302.It went in alright,but the rear mount is roughly 4 inches back from where mine is and where the shifter goes into the trans.is back under the metal of the floor pan.So,I guess I am going to sell it but I would like to know what it will fit.
Thanks for the info;
Jack
Hi;
On the door sticker it says the axle number is 19.What does that mean? I know that I have a 3:55 rear with the 8.8 in gear.What does the 2.73 or 3.08 axel mean?
Thanks again;
Jack
Axle code 19 means you have a 3.55 rear end with an open differential. That means if you get stuck in the mud or are on ice, only one tire will spin--the wrong one.

The 2.73:1 and the 3.08:1 Axle Ratio rear ends were 8.8" in those years.
I also noticed that you had the CA on a different line, I took it as part of the E9TA number, if there was something different after the E9TA then the information I have given you is wrong.

What wheel base do you have, I would think that a 2.73:1 and the 3.08:1 would be behind a large V-8 in that year and maybe a longer wheel base than yours.
Also is yours a 4X4, if it is and the other one is out of a 2 WD that would explain the difference in length.
By the way a: E9TA-AA T.K. 5-spd.
Ford Tr. '89-90 E150 thru E350 (w/3.55 axle)
Ford Tr. '89-90 F150 & F250 (w/3.55 or 4.10 axle)

Reason: add info
I have a 2 wh drive with the long wheel base.The 89 it came out of also was a 2 wh drive,but not sure of the wh base.I would think the only difference would be the length drive shaft between the swb and the lwb.I just finished putting back in the 4 speed.Altogether I have around $500 in the 5 speed trans.I put in all new seals,everything where the shifter goes in is brand new,because they were wore out,and I got a new slave cylinder.I paid $200 for it and drove all the way up to Crossville Tn.to get it.It took me almost all day to go up and back.I am very disappointed to say the least that it just didn't work.I just hope that I can sell it.
There is nothing right after the E9TA,but on the next line is the letters CA And you say a E9TA with the letters on the next line AA will fit mine?If I can sell mine I will go looking again for one.How about a M5OD will it fit?
Jack
I have "The Hollander Identification" manual and that is what it seams to say, I was just typing verbatim what was in the book.
I do not show any information under FORD for a M5OD, If it came out in a Ford, Ford must call it something else. Do you know the real name of a M5OD?
If you take the information off the side of it I can tell you what it came out in, but I do not have the Interchange Manual for your year.
I have seen other pepole on the web talking about a M5OD, but I do not know what it is.
Hmmm i have that same axle code and my truck posi's like somethin fierce. Its not hard to turn, It just locks in when i lay into it. Maybe Ford added somethin with the off road package that I have?

The axle code is for the rear end and in this case it is 3.55 but we were trying to come up with a Trans. code on the side of the Trans. that came out with 3.55 in a 2wd long wheel base F150 in 1989.
One thing that I forgot to mention is that I have dual fuel tanks and the rear mount on the E9TA trans lines up where the fuel switch valve is located.I am sure that there is a od manual trans made for that truck,with the same mount as the 4sp trans, when it was new from the factory don't you?Your Hollander book doesn't tell you what goes with what does it?
Went to the local Ford dealer this morning and they said to go to a junk yard because they have those type of books that tell what can go in what.They also said that the M5OD is just called the Masda M5OD
