I have a 1974 F250 with a rebuilt 7.5L 460 and an Edelbrock 650 cfm 4bbl electric choke installed. I pulled the casting numbers and was wondering if anyone could give me a little information on what I have under the hood? I was told the engine has around 22,000 miles on it, and it truly does run amazing. I was told the truck was slowly rebuilt by an old city mechanic over the years. I love everything about the truck; only issue I had was priming the carb after sitting for 2-3 weeks.
Intake Manifold Casting Numbers: D6VE-9425-A3A
Engine Cylinder Heads: D3VE-A2A
Engind Block Casting Numbers: D1VE-A2A.
Any help is appreciated, I'm so new to this but I love it.
What you have under the hood is the standard mid/late 70's 460 parts, except for the intake. The intake is a PI (Police Interceptor) piece, that was also used as a replacement piece for dumping the POS trouble probe 4350 carb and installing a Holley. This swap from 4350 to Holley was done as warranty work at Ford dealers in the era.

Good to know. Is this a square bore or the ford/autolite spread bore on the Police Interceptor intake or was that the basic difference?

The D6VE intake is a standard square bore 4bbl Holley/Autolite carb pattern. They are not common and were only used on the Custom 500/LTD PI units till 78 or as a replacement intake carb combo for vehicles where they had replaced multiple 4350's due to drivability issues. The 4350 was horrible a POS carb and IMHO is a top 3 finisher in the worst 4 BBLS ever made. (the other 2 spots are held by the Holley 4000 and the Carter AVS)
