T98 - 1R 9W


T98 - 1R 9w bolt hole 8 1/2" across top holes c-c 4 3/4 lower R from top R 2 3/4 lower L from top L 8 3/4 across lower holes c-c
Hi everyone, brand new to this site. Like everyone else who has a T, I want to replace with a T98. Have one listed in the title. Problem is the input shaft is 1 &1/4" longer than the T8 shaft at 6" so the stock bell depth of 6" can't take the T98. Plus the bolt pattern of the T98 can't work with the T9 bell half. To member "Number Dummy" as well as the rest: What bell or combination must I have to mate to my 239 flathead v8? Thank you!

Welcome to the forum! The 1-1/4" longer input shaft is just about what '53-on trucks used, can you post a picture of the tailshaft / rear mount?

You will want to look through this thread as you probably have a later T98 that will not directly fit in the 48-52 trucks.

If you look there, it seems yours matches one of my examples that seem to be what would be found starting in '53.

The correct T98 would have the same bolt pattern as the T9, if I'm not mistaken. The pictured T98 has ears for external mounting. Probably noted in the above link.

Bmoran4 , what a great link you provided! thank you. Now I know what I'm supposed to get - the Synchro-Silent. I don't know how you guys keep track of threads.. maybe I'll get it figured out. So my T98 is from a Y block as identified.... any one need it? and any chance there is a Synchro-Silent with the driveshaft park brake sitting in one of your shop or behind the shop? I can't figure how to get photo of my f2 next to my handle as so many of you have.
