Dropped truck off at tint place this morning and while back at home I though I'd check the FordPass app to check mileage to see if truck was moved or not. To my surprise the app says the truck is still at my house. Seems the app uses the location of the app and not the vehicle. Coding issue???? I think so. HAHA
EDIT: Maybe I'm mistaken and the app is designed to give me my current location and not vehicle location. Why would I need my current location?
I turned in my vehicle 90 minutes away to a PA dealership for work. I live in NYC.
when I got home...I checked ford pass and the location was PA dealership and the report time was when I shut off the truck.
The next day....I check agin to see if they moved it from parking lot into service bay and I saw a 10:00am last report time at the PA location.
I checked it later that day and saw a 16:00 report time at the PA location (test drive time).
so in my case, the ford pass app was reporting the location of the truck and it uses startup times to update the location.
So there is a refresh button on the app you might try and see what it says. Mine updates constantly almost as I am driving. However, it broke about 2 months after I got the truck brand new (May 2020) and it took up until last week for my dealer to get the telecommunications module from ford to fix it. The telecom module in the truck is responsible for the satellite uplink for location and locking and unlocking the truck and so when it went kapoot the entire app was useless. But now it works great haha
The location on the app is the trucks actual location. Sometimes mine will not show the location, even after multiple refreshes. If I lock or unlock it, it will usually find it then.
Just to update the thread. It appears the app did update after they started the truck and moved it into the bay. It now says the town but not the address. Guess it couldn't pinpoint the exact address as its in a building complex.
Still unclear what queries the truck for its location. Since the location didn't update this morning I am wondering if the app pings the truck and if its on it sends the location back. What's weird is the location was not updated when I parked it this morning. Trying to figure out the logic here. Would be nice to understand in the event the truck is stolen, but I'm sure if its stolen they may disable any communication between it and Ford anways.
Just checked mine after reading this for the heck of it, my truck is still at the dealer about 10 miles away. Checked the dealer location with google maps and its spot on. Def a goof up
Ford, keeps emailing me trying to get me to "sign up",, nope, not letting them know how I drive, where I drive or anything else. I can get away without a remote start or unlocking my doors. Most of the time the truck is in my garage as of now. Kevin
For me, Ford Pass is more painful than useful. The app sucks, provides me with useless "discounts" and notifications and I'm still waiting for the zillions of points I'm supposed to get for buying my new truck. I do want them so I can use them to buy the Aux Trailer Camera & TPMS - can't wait to see how much money I save using zillions of points

I agree. When I bought my 2019 I cashed out my points for oem rear wheel liners and a case of oil filters. My "zillion" points equaled $220.
I like the app. I bought my truck after I retired, but if I had it when I worked, I would have used scheduled starts often. I liked it when I was at a large farm auction, out of range for my remote, and I started my truck when it was 98 deg. I like that you are alerted if the alarm goes off. I also like that if I'm wondering how long till an oil change or how much fuel is in it, I can check it. Do I use those features often, no, but it is nice to have them.
As far as points, they don't amount to a lot, but its money I didn't have. I'll use my $300 toward a set of tires, since our dealer price matches tires.
