Engine identification

Need help identifying what engine this is aside from the obvious. It’s an FE, but I am a little confused.
Intake- c5ae9425c
Heads- c8aeh
balancer- c8 ae a1

what throws me off is the balancer. It has holes drilled in it which would make me think externally balanced like a 428. The balancer was also used on a 428. According to engineering number. It is locked up so I don’t know the stroke, but I plan on pulling it this weekend.

any ideas? The bore is 4.09 I believe but that’s with a crappy plastic caliper, I’ll eventually find my nice one in a couple days when the garage is clean again.

The 428 is balanced externally with weight on the flywheel or flexplate.

Most likely it was "rebuilt" or just worked on with "mismatched" parts. Sometimes when you had a valve job, they would just swap heads with you, because "they're all the same".

4.09 is probably a 390, maybe you get lucky and find a 410, but it's still had work as the 410 was '66-7 only.

As with most "found" FE motors, you can rule out some, but to really know you have to measure the bore and stroke. Do you have the pan off?

I figured it is going to be a plain Jane 390 the balancer threw me off mainly because the drilled holes. I don’t have the pan off yet but hopefully I will over the weekend when the engine is out.
