Hello all. I am desperately searching for some info on my issue with a deranged fuel system. Here's what I have.......
89 f-250 with a 7.5. The overall condition of the truck is excellent and the buy was one I couldn't afford not to make. But then it gets worse. The truck was a victim of theft that left me with fuel lines cut, parts missing, brake lines cut etc etc. Got it running but here is the issue. The front tank was out of the truck. It got a new fuel pump and installed. That's my mistake, should have tested the sender. The rear tank is out as well as well as the fuel tank switching valve being bypassed. The truck will not start and run unless the fuel tank switch is switched to the rear tank. You know, the one sitting on the ground and not installed on the truck. Also, the oil pressure guage and water temp guage do not work. The fuel guage is pegged past full and the oil pressure and temp guages stay pegged to the left . I've been scratching my head since then and now I'm almost out of hair. Any suggestions????
If you are chasing electrical problems, do yourself a favor and go to eBay and search for "1989 Ford EVTM" and buy that manual for your truck. It's a lot easier to read than a typical wiring diagram.
IF your oil and temp gauges do not return to zero after key is off, the gauge is stuck or broken. Can try giving a good smack to free the needles. If they do return with key off, but peg once you turn on key. Check ground wire between battery and engine block. Can try a jumper cable just clap on alt bracket or ?? on motor and then to the neg battery lug.
I also agree on getting the manual off Ebay. comes in handy!
