'92 F150 fuel system problem
I am brand new to the forum and hope that I can get some answers to a few questions that I have regarding the fuel system on my '92 f150. I have never really done my own mechanic work until recently when i decided that i was tired of paying other people to do something that i could do myself with the right guidance.
here goes, i bought my truck about five years ago as a beater and a wood and water hauler. it has dual tanks and the front tank at that time was rusted out so the guy that i bought it from only used the rear tank. i quickly realized that this tank had a hole in it, and you couldn't fill it over half way full so i just drove it like that for about four years until i got tired of having to stop and get gas every day because i couldn't fill the tank up. i recently had someone install a new front tank and a new front fuel pump. they did not however try to run the truck on the front tank after they installed it. i have put gas in it and i can hear the pump kick on and shut off when i turn the key but it wont fire. here is where i need help.
i can switch back to the rear tank and it will fire right up but if i switch to the front it dies. is there a tank selector valve that i should be looking for?, i crawled under it and i couldn't see one, or are there two separate sets of lines one for the rear fuel pump one for the front. could the fuel lines to the front tank be clogged and not be allowing fuel to pass through? any tips or help will be greatly appreciated
thank you.
To replace the fuel module you would have to either remove the bed or drop the fuel tank.
