Hi,
I asked about Hughesnet earlier and ford390 recommended the new tmobil internet. It's possible that I could use that, but I have a couple of questions. I called the tmobil number, but the person who answered was definitely a sales guy with a script. He said that the package would include setup with customer service, but I always like to know what I'm getting into.
Question #1 -- will the tmobil router support computer to computer networking in the same way a normal router does? I read a review that implied that you could connect your existing router to the tmobil unit, so it's probably not a biggy.
Question #2 -- Do I need a smartphone to configure the router? I don't have one now, but it's getting to the point where I think I'll have to get one. I asked the tmobil guy and he rattled off some stuff about hotspots which didn't seem to apply to my question.
I will probably order this soon just to try it out, but if anyone has answers to my questions, I'd appreciate it.
I don't have any answers to your questions but an alternative I'm looking into just as an FYI to share. I currently have internet off the local AT&T cell tower through a modem box. They do have data caps which I run close to the edge most months. I have no complaints with the service (no interruptions) but they have similar tactics with sending bills out close to the due date so they can bust you with late fees like Directv did before I got rid of them. Even before the Post Office slowed down due to the pandemic. I'm currently on a waiting list with Starlink. The equipment is around $500 plus around $100 per month and as I understand it no data caps.
