I can't speak for New Hampshire or Alabama, but in Arizona (read highest auto theft rate in the nation) the rules are different and we are not a 'no-fault' state. I could really flame out if I went into detail about my SF history, but they are a funny bunch with the "Like Kind and Quality" addendum - junkyard parts are as good as dealer stock (per the policy), yadda, yadda, yadda. They also get real pissy when you break the Golden Triangle (Home, Life, Auto) and they get less than 10% of your take home pay...
It is true that with recent mold issues the HO policies are a changin'. To re-phrase my suggestion - check on the HO policy to see if there was better coverage to fix the truck and the garage door on one claim, rather than filing with both policies - take a single hit once rather than ding both policies. Depending on the situation, number of vehicles, claim history, etc. it may be a wiser move.
As much as the insurance companies hate the lawyers, niether can live without the other. I think something from my biology class comes to mind.... yes, the parasites.
Hey are you sure your last name isn't 'GRISWOLD'? I mean that sounds like a script out of a movie. Is there any way you can blame maybe half of your problems on your wife? WOW!!!
