Are an of you racing fans having as hard a time getting use to refering to Nascar racing as Nextel Cup as i am?I noticed someone has their user name as Nextel Cup fan.I saw the name and thought, this is going to be strange refering to what was Winston Cup racing as Nextel Cup.It just doesn't have a" ring" to it .How do you feel about this change?
Your right, it just doesent have the same ring. I guess it will just take some time to get used to. At first i saw the Nextel cup post and thought coffee cup, silly me
Well, there was the same problem when it changed from "Grand National" to "Winston Cup". I had this big ol banner in my garage that welcomed Grand National fans.
I've stumbled over "Nextel Cup" more than once already... even though I tend to call NASCAR's top circuit the "Cup Series" most of the time... something I always did do, even when Winston sponsored it.
The other two series are "The Busch Series" and "the trucks".
And I can't wait for them to get started... I plan on going to about six races in 2004.
haha... well, i wish it was still winston cup because "nextel cup" just sounds... like... i don't know, when i first heard it, i thought it was cart racing! but i agree farmforward... as long as the cars are still racin... i dont care what the name is
... though winston cup does flow and nextel cup don't...
Young jeti you will be converted slowly and un-knowingly.
In the dead of night when you are asleep, you mind will be filled with thoughts
echoing….nextel………….nextel………….nextel.
Then one day five/ten years from now,.. when they change the name again,..you will once again say “it will always be Nextel Cup in my mind.….”

However, if you call it stock car racing then the France family would have to pay for it. They could not make the millions they are form other people paying for their business. That would also cramp their style of removing any tracks on the schedule that they do not control, and make millions off of.

Well someone must pay for this..............you think their rates will go up?
