Have any of you had problems with having the truck smogged after the installation of headers. Here in So. Cal. I will have to do that soon and I'm about to put headers on my 2001 F250-SD.
What I’m trying to get answered is this….. Are the only headers available, for a v10, that included a new “Y” Pipe from “BANKS” or “BORLA”? The Gibson setup does not include a Y Pipe and is only quoted at giving an additional “10 HP”!!!!! That’s not worth $600 bucks. If you change the Y pipe for the Gibson then I think the Smog goes out the window. I know that the Gibson is a better value but not much HP. The Banks setup has great advertising, is very expensive and seems to fit. So what’s a guy to do?????? There has to be another alternative!!!!
You are correct, only Banks and Borla offer the new Y-pipe.
I can't see how the smog will change if you added a custom Y-pipe to the Gibson setup. The O2 sensors are before the cat and the y-pipe would only increase flow to the cat.
You could search EBAY for some BORLAs, or just pay out for either BANKS or BORLA. I think you could use ANY set of headers with a Y-pipe fabbed by an exhaust shop and achieve the same results as others.
Well today I bought a set of Borla Headers and Y pipe. I will probably use a Spintech Exhaust with this setup. The Borlas seem to fit in with my value theme!!! Borla are much less money than the Banks System, and Banks ala cart pricing isn’t very good at all. So I’ll keep my fingers cross that it will all be fine in the end, or Ill just spend more time fabricating my own……
