I see these kits are finally available again.
Got a question - plan to do only the TPMS on my Airstream. I'm guessing you. would mount the TPMS transmitter for the trailer near the hitch?
Not sure I really need the camera as the Airstream came with a camera, which I seldom use.
I have the Ultimate Trailer Camera setup.
FYI - I just left the TPMS harness and box coiled up and plugged it into the bed connector. Works fine on my 40' intech triple axle car trailer.
Interesting - so no install on the trailer, just install the sensors, right? This would be super easy.
The Airstream is really low to the ground so I was not real excited about crawling under it.
That is how I did mine and it worked great, both on my SRW 350 and my new F450. Just leave the harness in the bed of the truck (I zip-tied it up so it wasn't just a 20' mess of wires). If you have a camper or tonneau cover I could see maybe some interference as I am towing a Gooseneck.
I did not order my truck with the UTT. I did however order my truck with the "Trailer TPMS Customer Installed Accessory." There may be a couple things you can look for:
1) Does the "Towing" tab in the driver's display show any option for "Trailer Tire Pressure"? Before I even installed anything, that option was already there. Maybe it gets turned on/off through Forscan if it doesn't display on your vehicle:
2) Underneath the truck, above the spare tire (you have to lower the tire to access it) there was a 12-pin connector already there on the harness with a plug-cap. Instructions from the kit:
Hope this helps.
I looked for a free cable as depicted in the diagram but couldn't find it. My rig has a 7/12-pin connecter inside the truck bed. Is there only one cable to work with and you have to relocate it to the appropriate connecter depending on which trailer type you are hauling? Does someone make a Y-harness so you don't have to get under the truck all the time?
Was there a second 12-pin cable under the bed that plugs into the back of the bumper 12-pin socket? The installation manual says to look for it in a dust cap. But I couldn't find it. (2022 F450).
I found the other 12-pin connector near the rear bumper almost directly behind the license plate. I looked all over on the side like it showed in the diagram but after determining that one was being used by the bed connector, started looking in other places for another connector. Just had to move it from the dust cap to the bumper connector and it was done.
