Vacuum problems need help!

Hello all thanks for taking the time to read!

I have a 77 ranchero gt with the 400 in it. The guy before me has put a edelbrock sp2p manifold with a motocraft 4350 (D5AE RA). Don't know if this matters but he put a flow master exhaust on it too.

I can get it to start but the idle is out of this world high! I have been monkeying around but can't seem to figure it out. I believe something has to be wrong with the vacuum lines.

Any help is appreciated thanks a million!

Side note. Is this set up any good or should I just spring for a different carb/manifold set up?

The 4350 is a spread bore carb, what adapter is it sitting on? Are the gaskets correct? That should be a square bore manifold. Not the biggest fan of the 4350 carbs but they can work.

I believe it's the correct one. The original one on it was not! I took it (the carb) to the auto store and the guy hooked me up with what I believe is the correct one. I had the carb off and took it in and we matched it up and all butterflies moved smoothly.

The pictures are of the box the NEW one (adapter) came in that is on there now. The other (picture) is the OLD I took off. It wouldn't allow the second (rear) butterflies to open. The NEW one does this with no issues.

The guy before me claimed to have "cleaned" the carb. This was simply not true. It had gunk and double gaskets 🙄. So I went through it and replaced what I could with new. Should have taken more pics.

box that the new one came in that is now on it

This is the old i took off

two gaskets 😬🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Sorry if this double posted. I thought I had clicked the reply button.

So the original adapter was not correct. I went to the auto store and the guy gave me the correct one. I took along the carb to make sure and it fit like a charm. The PO said he cleaned the carb. He definitely did not. Found gunk and gaskets stacked.

I have posted pictures of the old adapter that is off and pictures of the box the NEW one came in. Along with the double gaskets.

The OLD one
