I bought a new socket to fix one of my rear lights from Carpenter. Not 100% original but certainly not redneck. I would think the fronts are the same but here is the part I used. https://www.dennis-carpenter.com/tru...t-socket--wire

Umm, I believe the correct term is “ southern-engineer”. But, you should be able to find what you need, either reproduction, or used, maybe NOS, if you can be patient. Good luck.

Tail lights use a double contact socket and a 1157 bulb while the front parking lights use a single contact socket and a 1156 bulb.

My bad; sorry for the misinformation. I looked in my spare parts stash and you are correct - double contact up front too. I Probably should let investigation proceed opening mouth.

Front parking lights and rear tail lights are on different circuits from the light switch. Tail lights are on in both on positions of the switch. The front parking lights are only on in the Parking lights position and turn off when the headlights are on.

I seem to remember reading that there is an extra terminal on the headlight switch that you can move the front parking light circuit wire to, and have front lights along with the headlights. Can anyone confirm?

The wires on the light switch plug in with one big connector. Should be easy enough to modify the harness if you want the parking lights on with the headlights but you would likely need to cut a wire to do it. There is an extra wire and connector in the harness near the light switch that is connected to the tail light circuit, I'm plugging my roof clearance lights in to it. This is all based on 1966, I haven't looked at other years.
