I am trying to solve a crank no-start issue. The truck was starting good. Parked one day and I can't get it to fire up.
I am only getting one injector to buzz or clatter. All the numbers look good as far as FICM Main power, HPOP, FICM Sync.
Also, the truck doesn't get driven much in the winter. I did notices white smoke out of the exhaust. Just thought it was old fuel. The smoke got better after I drove it a bit, but I am wondering if that was a sign of problems to come with the injectors.
With one injector precyle buzzing/clattering, does that eliminate the FICM? If it is gummed up injectors, is there any way to free them up?
I think my issue is either/both gummed-up injectors or bad FICM.
I have only one injector buzzing with the key on, Is there a cheap way to buzz the injectors (app)? Or, can I assume that if they are not buzzing with the key on, that they won't buzz with a test?
Would a bad FICM, buzz one injector and not the others? Is there a way to check the FICM outside of power? See if it is sending power out to the individual injectors?
Again, outside of some white smoke the truck was starting and running fine. Then all of sudden, wont start and run.
Try hooking up the #3 injector connector to another injector and run the buzz test again. See if the code is still there or not (note - do not crank the engine).
