I have a 1996 7.3 zf5, my check engine light will come on and the truck will missfire really bad, once I push in the clutch and let the rpms go down the light will go off and it will idle fine. Sometimes it'll come on just cruising down the highway and the truck will run rough until I can come to a stop, I'm sure its a sensor somewhere. Tried reading the obd2 but nothing shows up, any ideas?
Most code readers won’t read these trucks. You need a autoengunuity or torque pro. Sounds like ipr malfunction to me. Check to see if the tin nut on the back of the ipr is tight. It would be useful if you could get access to a scanner for these trucks
FORScan should work as well, has the ability to read real-time, and can run on a mobile device via app. IIRC, desktop version is free and the mobile app will cost a nominal $. You will need to buy the OBD-II cable.

that’s is. Couldn’t remember the other one. Thanks!
