I am preparing the 5th wheel for the summer adventures that lay ahead and I wanted to put a reminder out there to check the water level in your lead acid batteries! I try to do this in the spring and fall, but sometimes I forget, like last fall...
The water level was about 1/8" above the lead plates, but definitely needed some topping off.
Also sending a thank you Sous, because it won't let me send reps! Ours is actually about to be put on mothballs until Labor Day. Summer is our busy time of year, so from now until the family reunion Labor Day, we will just be looking longingly at our rig!
In a world of mostly zero-maintenance batteries, this often gets forgotten.
Thanks!
You are very welcome! I need reminders each day of my life otherwise I get lost and nothing accomplished.

I hope your busy season is a good one for you! Be safe out there sir!

We bought 4x Trojan T-105 lead acid 3 years ago when we were adding a complete solar, inverter and generator system to our 5th wheel. We just didn't have the coin to go up to AGM or lithium at the time. Although, I set up the wiring and system in a way that I will only have to extend the large 4/0 battery cables (one positive and one negative) about 5 feet to a non-vented and insulated area near the stairs and under the upper floor.
I keep hoping battery prices will come down as hybrid and electric cars are more popular, but that is not the case. I saw Battle Born just came out with a "heated" case battery for those just in case moments.
