And various manufactures of gasoline engines have different smells, some worse to be behind than others like GM and Kia.
I've seen my 2.7L EB smoke briefly (can see it in the morning sun) a few times on a cold morning at startup. The TGDI seem to be dirty engines when cold. I run Chevron 93 fuel or whatever good premium I can find if traveling. I also suspect some (probably many) of these gas smoke cases are folks not understanding how to accelerate a turbocharged vehicle now that turbos are bolted to a lot of various size engines.
The pilot injection diesel is a rough smell in direct contact. If you want a really strong smell (you don't, it's terrible), have the problem I had with active/static regenerations with purpleish smoke as soon as a regeneration started until EGT4 was > 950°F and with a stuck open DEF injector. I can only describe that as a sharp diesel/ammonia type smell.
Now that I CANNOT EVEN IMAGINE.

Do the delete, you will not regret it. Stick with a low hp tune for longevity. You wont need to worry about aftertreatment failures again. You can do it anywhere. I live in California and I’m deleted, just keep in mind smog every other year.

I agree with all that. On my GT500 although it's old school compared to the new trucks and cars. I still have all my smog on the car and with JUST a pulley and CAI I gained about 100 H/P Same exhaust no headers cats in place with stock mufflers. Only way I get the same fuel millage is if I keep my foot out of it. I NEVER bought this car for fuel millage. I bought it because its screaming fast.
It's funny how guys spend all this money on parts and tunes to never save enough fuel to pay for them. Kind of like the guys that spend $1,000 on a fuel tank because that way they can get the best fuel price. Now we know diesels like to work but adding weight to the truck hurts fuel millage. Then you can be a little more selective on where you buy fuel. I just think you have to save a lot on fuel to make up what you may have spent on fuel.
I travel the country with my 26 gallon tank and when I get to 100 miles till empty I start looking for fuel. I don't get the best price all the times. I am always checking out the price of fuel as I pass by stations so I have a good idea on the price.
Another thing is how long are most folks keeping there trucks? I thought I would keep mine forever but jury is still out on mine.
Why's that? Because it's not pro delete? There's no political discussion in that blog. They are a legit tuning company that has emissions on tuning.
In case you haven't noticed, even a big wig like Korey Willis of PPEI has gone emissions legal. Apparently he likes to stay in business and make money.
Whether I agree with the EPA or not, jack@$$e$ with race tunes and social media ruined it for all IMO. Not against deletes as a whole, but to do just for the sake of doing is asinine in my opinion. But it ain't my money or truck.
The future is emissions legal tuning. Sure, the small shops will continue to do it but they'll be the exception and not the rule. A modern diesel truck like our 6.7 engines, if used properly and allowed to get hot to keep the emissions functioning and clean, will last.
The mallrats who just sit in theirs idling listening to rap and who just do city driving... Will have problems. That's why they need the deletes.
Once again, I'm no tree hugger and not 100% against deletes... But it is what it is when it comes to the EPA and these emissions laws. As long as mine runs the way she does, I'm good with it being factory stock. But I do love the sound of a deleted 6.7. I just can't stand the way these modern deleted trucks smell. Way too STRONG not like the old trucks.
