Earlier in the week I attempted to use my keyless entry to gain entry to my car to no avail while leaving a restaurant downtown. I had to use my manual key and open the door. Once open, there was no chime, lights, anything going off. I stuck my key in the ignition, nothing. Quarter turn of the key nothing. Full turn, nothing.
Popped the hood and put my jumper box on. After letting it sit, I attempted to turn the key, nothing. About 5 mins later after google searching starters and alternators I tapped on the alternator with my knuckle. I walked back around to the drivers side and opened the door, boom! It was chiming, lights were on, etc. I started the car and off to the dealership we went.
Dropped it off and told them the story. They kept it for four days and it started every time with no issue. Alternator good, starter good, battery good, fuses good. Picked it up from the dealership last night....
Today after 6 miles of driving on the highway I heard a loud bang and what sounded like I was dragging something from underneath. It sounded like a bunch of chains. Car went dead at 40mph, and we had to drift into the shoulder. It never started again, no power no nothing. Weren’t even able to get it into neutral so the flatbed guy had a hell of a time. It’s back at the dealership now.
Please help, what could be going wrong with this thing????!!! My gauges are still stuck in place from when I lost power and heard the noise
HINT/TIP: Put your vehicle information (year, model, cab, trim, engine, wheelbase, _x4 drive, mileage, modifications, etc., etc.) in your signature -OR- provide it without having to ask.
If it's at the dealer and is in a current state of disrepair, they'll be able to pinpoint the cause. Give them time to have a looksee. The only thing people can do over the net is guess based on your description.

My only concern was that it was picked up and this happened shortly thereafter. Something of this magnitude should’ve been found on the initial 5 days it was there...

I couldn't tell you how many times in my career I've had customers vehicles come in running perfectly normal only to have them fail at a later time. Machines are only as good as the sum of their parts and any one of them can fail at any time for any reason. If they didn't find anything before they shouldn't have charged you anything.
If they did charge you, make it known you expect some sort of remuneration this time on their dime as far as labor goes. Don't expect them to just give you any parts for free. Could be something as simple as a bad ground.
The dealer just called and it started up this morning like there wasn't anything wrong. They are chasing a few codes that it is showing now....They are just as confused as I am
I'm telling you, it sounded like I ran over a chain linked fence and there was bang under the hood. This is driving me crazy.
The first issue sounds like an electrical issue. Either a loose connection or a bad battery. The 2nd issue sounds like you dropped a rod.
Let us know what the stealership says. Hope it all works out for you.

You have a big electrical problem... not motor grenade, not transmission.. NO POWER... RANDOM.
Could be something as simple as ignition switch internal failure ? No ground for battery ? Corrosion at battery terminal or cable ends away from battery.
If the truck STOPS and does NOTHING... most of that is related to the KEY IGNITION... Try the headlights... they dont go thru the switch.. If no headlights also, then its more related to battery / cables / main power supply.
