Spring and Shock Replacement 05 Excursion

Hello,I’m replacing suspension springs and shocks all the way around on my 2005 X using F250 springs. As I understand it I will need to replace the rear upper shock bushings with Excursion shock bushings to allow direct bolt on of a shock designed for the F250. It was suggested I press out the bushings from my current 5-year-old Bilstein shocks and press them into the new KYB shocks I have selected. Not sure if this is a good idea and would like to purchase new bushings for the new shocks. So far I have been unable to find bushings to do this. Any suggestions or input would be welcomed.

The EX and Super Dities have significant weight difference on the rear axle, shocks are tuned with this in mind. I think a shock made for the EX would be a better choice than one for a pickup.
What exactly is your goal with these new springs? Are you looking for a certain amount of lift or an increase in load rating? Which of the several pickup front and rear springs are you considering?

Current springs are shot. I'm not looking for lift. I travel a lot (16k to 20k a year) I'm more concerned about quality of ride on highways and surface streets. Occasionally tow a boat. At almost 70 off road days are behind. Thanks for the reply and insight.

OK, as mentioned in the other thread your rear springs are still at factory ride height but the fronts have sagged about 1". The EX came from the factory riding about 2" lower than a simialarly equipped pickup, so replacing the worn front EX springs with the typical V code PSD pickup fronts will raise your worn frontend up about 2.5" or so. If you are perfectly happy with the factory EX ride height then I think that a set of OEM front springs with new bumpstops and replacement shocks for an EX will have you set. It sounds like the rear just needs new shocks and most likely fresh bumpstops on both frame and traction bars. The boat that you are towing shouldn't require any additional suspension add-ons.

It sounds like front springs and new shocks all the way around might be the way to go. I have an appointment to get on a rack for better assessment of exactly what needs to be done. Thanks to all.
