So yesterday, randomly, driving to work and everything is fine. Come out to grab lunch and truck starts fine, but no heat. No radio. Headlights and Taillights on without switch being on. Brake lights dont work. Column shift wont come out of park. Dash lights wont work. Truck is running just fine. Disconnected battery for 20 minutes. As soon as I hooked it back up , headlights came on. Lights wont go off for at least 20 minutes. Checked all the fuses in the box and under the hood, looked good. Figured out how to bypass the shift interlock to get it home. Any ideas? 2009 F150 5.4 XLT. No problems up until yesterday.
Check both battery cables. They have multiple terminals on them and one may be corroded or loose. Tug on them near each terminal for tightness and look for green corrosion.
Also, if battery terminals and connections are all good, check the female socked on the back right top of your gauge cluster. It's a common problem for 09 and 10 trucks. I've "fixed" mine three times in four years. Too cheap to buy a cluster and have it flashed. Lol.
Turns out it was the bulkhead connector down near the fuse panel on the passenger side kick panel area. My FIL had gotten in there one day last week and cracked the panel on a very sub-zero day, and he then kicked the connector loose with his boot. Thanks for the help guys!
