I bought the stock 53 6 yrs ago and at first I preferred chrome but after getting the other 53 grill painted I now prefer a painted one Ken.
Your grill looks very nice EffieTrucker, What wheels you have on your truck? I have 15'' Ford Ranger wheels on mine, they need to be polished and I need to find center caps.
Mine are 15"x8" wheels from a 4x4 F-150. Mid to late '80s, I think. They look to be the same basic design as yours. Mine are what they call "10 Holers" yours are 12.
Most of the Sungate Ivory samples i saw had way too much yellow in them. They were not even close. I was lucky to get part of Abe's paint chip and took it in and matched it up.
I like your wheels a lot more but since I have a Ford car bolt pattern I had to go with Ranger wheels EffieTrucker.
Your color looks real nice Indybeer.
For what it's worth (old color photo shown on your phone, ipad, or monitor) here is a color picture of a 53 F100 taken in 1953. Does it look like Sungate Ivory or is it lighter in color?
Both the Sungate Ivory on your 54 grille and the Snowshoe White on your 55 grill look great Abe. It's hard to tell in the picture taken in 1953 but it looks good too.
You can just paint it Wimbledon White, its a Ford color?
That's what I'm going to do. Wimbledon white is easy to get, ready to spray. If I don't like the way it looks, I'll repaint it when I have the body work and cab painted.
