2020 F-250 Lariat with halogens. I was changing out the stock bulbs for the Sylvania Ultras and did not pay attention to the wiring harnesses. One of the plugs has a grey sheath and the other is black. Which of those goes to the top bulb in the assembly? Or does it matter? Thanks.
Too late now because you've already done the job. But I've swapped bulbs many times on a 6.2 and there's no need to remove the grille. At most, the washer tank filler neck and air breather snorkel. Got so I could do all 4 bulbs in about 15 minutes.

You are correct and that’s what I did. The passenger side is easy after you get the air filter box out of the way. The drivers side lower bulb is a bear to reach. I was in a hurry and didn’t note which connector went where though. Sigh.
The connectors are exactly the same (H13) but one bundle is wrapped in black sheathing and the other (top) is wrapped in grey. The side marker and turn signal bulb connectors are different. Can’t mess those up.

I mainly posted that because another post shows a video of the guy sitting there with the grille in his lap. Totally unnecessary and a waste of time on a 6.2 truck.
Even on my 7.3 with dual batteries I did it by removing the washer tank filler neck on the driver side, and the whole airbox will pull out on the passenger side after disconnecting the tube that connects breather to intake.
